Exposing the Truth About FCAT Prep.

It is a scary thought to expose the truth about our schools being FCAT prep centers. The scary part is that it may do more harm than be helpful. The people who design this test, really believe that if we are teaching the curriculum and we do our jobs well...then there is no need for "test prep." Every teacher knows this is nonsense because it is all a matter of interpreting the test question and knowing what they are "really" asking.

When the negative test prep publicity gets to the FCAT supporters, they turn it around to reflect negatively on our teaching practices. Unfortunately, what I see happening is...micro managed teachers and lesson plans. In the future, teachers will be forbidden to do FCAT prep. Thus, setting ourselves, the schools, and most importantly...the students, up for failure.

I just can't wait until after March, when I can be a real teacher again!
